There were plenty of better Australian albums last year. I had 3 in my top 20 from memory. It's just not a great album, there are some cracking songs on it but overall it's not that good of a listen.
As for your question, No. The Bee Gees greatest hits doesn't really count I guess. I don't know if I have a standout, Gersey - Storms Dressed As Stars, The Church - Of Skins and Heart, AC/DC - Back in Black, The Triffids - Born Sandy Devotional. Tough Question.

NBC are pretty good at tracking down SNL clips and getting them taken off YouTube, but you might be able to watch it on their site. Alternately, it's usually not too hard to find a torrent of the whole show.

Seems the song is at #5 in the US Billboard hot 100 chart for the second week in a row. Not bad considering it's now charted for 11 week and hasn't taken a backwards step yet.

The song has spent 5 weeks at the top of the UK chart. That is a record for an Aussie song yes? Sad thing is Katy Perry is tipped to knock him from the top of the chart this week

I haven't been following his progress in the US, and have never seen any Glee in my life to know what good/bad impact him being covered on there had, but I saw a bit of Swedish House Mafia's set on the Coachella livestream, and it was played by them too and it stood out to me, as it's not often you hear an Australian song (particularly of that genre) in sets like that, so that's when I knew he must've been having some sort of impact over there.

The single is retailing at 99c in the US (vs the Australian itunes store, where it retails for $2.19 AUD) and itunes takes approximately 35c of every unit sold. Usually the record labels take around 55c, leaving the artist with 10c. So we’ll use 10% as a rough guide.

Gotye is repped independently by a range of different labels internationally (Eleven/Inertia here in Australia) who would have all established different contracts, so essentially, they all take different cuts. That and there are different exchange rates to consider…
Regardless, here's a rough guide:

Gotye has admitted that he sometimes gets sick of his huge hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know', telling NME "there's only so many times you can listen to one song".

The track, which you can see the video for by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking, is the biggest selling single of the year so far in the UK and has hit the Number One spot in 18 countries.

The singer, whose real name is Wouter De Backer, told NME: "Sometimes I feel like I'm a bit sick of it. My inbox, on any given day, has at least five covers or parodies or remixes of it and there's only so many times you can listen to the one song."

But, he added, he doesn't feel like the track is a burden just yet and that he still enjoys playing the track live:
