Love You Not - TheUrgency EP
Tue 17th Jul, 2007 in Music Reviews
Love You Not are a pop-rock outfit from Perth, who formed around solo
artist Justin Cox in 2005, and released their debut EP, the Urgency EP
in early 2007.
The band claims that one of their many influences are Coldplay which, if you listen very carefully, the instrumentation is slightly reminiscent. The EP has successfully projected the talent of the quartet in the form of catchy lyrics and guitar riffs as expected of the genre.
The first song on the album, Stand Up is definitely the star of the EP with memorable lyrics and opens with some nice guitar riffs. There is a thin thread of melancholy through most of the songs especially on Darkside of Me and I’m Sorry but the angst doesn’t come through the lyrics. The lyrics are disappointingly unexceptional but the instrumentation is strong and dimensional.
This EP may not be remarkable but it’s enjoyable and fulfils the requirements of the genre.
