Ground Components - Handsin the Air
Wed 2nd May, 2007 in Music Reviews
It has all been done before but Ground Components, just like they’ve done before, have done it again and done it rather well. ‘Hands in the Air’ has all the hallmarks of a live favourite, which means that it doesn’t stray too far from classic rock in structure and verse. Classic it ain’t but rock it most certainly does. With all the energy of a live performance sans cold beer in hand, and the sight of a screaming, shirtless Joe McGuigan, this single has surplus enough of the good stuff going on to forgive the horrible, horrible need to mention the term “pub-rock” in a review. The b-side includes a cover of an Aretha Franklin track that is similarly both ridiculous and all too much fun.
