Ps… Situation- is the irresistible new mini album from ostensibly Brisbane’s strongest emerging band. The minimalist album cover design is reflected in the seven tracks of this fine slice of unpretentious, balls-to-the-wall rock, which at first listening belies the fine musicality of the Brisbane three-piece. The album possesses darkly seductive thundering guitar riffs, sinister snaking bass lines and militant drum sections. Vocally the album is by turns coy, then wailing and the lyrics slyly witty but hard-rocking. It’s an alluring and eclectic mix and has seen Mary Trembles blowing through the radio waves.

JJJ’s high rotation Scene from Below is the opening track which lays the foundation for the following six finely tuned, well produced songs. Tracks such as Not My Fault, Emotional Calligraphy and Fugue shows the diversity and grating workmanship in this album. If comparisons need to be made- the likes of Nirvana, Pinback and The Pixies can surely be heard. Looking forward to the next album so see what lies ahead for Mary Trembles. Return of the chrome fist!
