Wow! A compilation that has some of the best Aussie punk and rock’n’roll bands ever on it all playing live at the Turkeyneck Bar & Grill (somewhere north of St. Kilda).

Legendary bands such as X, Scrumfeeder, Corpse Grinders, Cosmic Psychos, I Spit On Your Gravy, The Band Who Shot Liberty Valance, Mr Bastard, Elvis & The Burger Kings, The Onyas and They Might Be Vaginas. Okay, so the pretext of this record is that it is 17 bands who played at the Turkeyneck between 1979 and 2001 and who recorded live tracks there. As you would expect the quality of this is not fantastic because it is live but it is surprisingly good for a live record. This makes me happy.

Most of the bands on this are ripping through their (possibly) most famous tracks. Scrumfeeder do ‘Trucky Powder’, The Onyas do ‘I’m Not Your Mate’, X do ‘That’s Not Nice’ and so on.

This is really a fun and great record, a great reminder of Aussie bands that played hard, rocked out and should be remembered for that. I am finding it very hard to write about this record because it is so damn good. Writing about records that I find really great is hard because I just sit there, listen and feel great about the music.
