Never before has 80s inspired electro pop sounded so good. Van She are on the same label as The Presets and Cut Copy and at first glance, it is easy to dismiss them for being another scenester band.

However, the first single Kelly from their self-titled EP is extraordinarily catchy. Think electro-lite guitar parts and a singalong chorus that evokes images of endless summers and the hot girl that you pashed at the beach. There’s even a Prince reference in the song- for all you music trivia peeps.

With the backing of the synth, this song could be mistaken for being written sometime in the 80s. From the cheesy but endearing lyrics, through to the accompanying retro-tinged music clip; Van She are set to create quite a stir in 2006 if this single is anything to go by.
