The Living End - What'sOn Your Radio
Mon 2nd Jan, 2006 in Music Reviews
Melbourne trio The Living End have come a long way from the simplicity of their break through self-titled record all those years ago. With each release it seems the band has evolved and matured as they continue to out-do themselves time and time again. The latest single What’s On Your Radio is no exception, delivering three raw, highly energetic rock numbers in their trademark style.
Title track What’s On Your Radio has, funnily enough, been a hit on the airwaves. It showcases the band’s perfected song writing ability with a chorus so catchy you’ll be singing along on your first listen.
Providing a sneak peek at the forthcoming long player is Reborn, a stripped back, country-style tune with twanging guitar fills, low vocals and a thumping upright bass.
Finally there is Wrong Side Of The Tracks, which seems to have been greatly under-estimated as a b-side. Filled with those impossible Chris Cheney guitar solos and accentuated by quick drum rolls – if this song didn’t make it onto the album, I can’t wait to see what did.
With new full length State Of Emergency slated for release in February and an appearance at this year’s SXSW Music Festival in Texas to come, things are looking good for The Living End in 2006 as they show no signs of slowing down.
