Barry Morgan -The TouchOf You
Thu 5th Jul, 2012 in Music Reviews
The Ever Entertaining Barry Morgan, the man of the organ and the sounds of the organ and the man with an organ in his name. What are we talking about, we are talking about organs!
As you have probably caught on by now, if you have seen Barry on Spicks and Specks, he is the alter ego of Mr. Stephen Teakle. With songs that make you tap your feet and wonder if someone left the elevator door open, Teakle has written some catchy, swinging (with absolutely no funk) organ grooves.
The sound of his Hammond brings you back to ice skating rinks around the globe and the kitschy sound of this easy-listening music is quite calming and would sedate the highest strung politician or a child spun out on red cordial. What more could you want? The tracks you have been waiting for are all here: BK Bossa, Sands Upon My Hands, and the one we can’t live without, Let’s Go, Let’s Swing (The One Finger Method). Are you excited?
Barry Morgan has taken his touch on his organ to dynamic highs throughout this tongue in cheek celebration of his Hammond Aurora. He can do it with one finger or more, but that one finger method is the one he is known for throughout most of South Australia (Adelaide being the home of The World Of Organs Superstore ). Imagine Bob Downe with dark hair, a lion’s mane and a ‘stache and a Hammond and you can pigeon hole Barry Morgan right there. The music is only a part of this RSL styled performance. Without the beaming smile, the knowing smirks and the safari suit, this is only an album of corny organ music.
