Biffy Clyro - RevolutionsLive At Wembley

www.fasterlouder.com.au

Headlining Wembley Stadium is a fantastic achievement for any band, and in the case of Biffy Clyro it has taken seven years and more than a million record sales in the UK alone, to get there. So it is safe to say that whilst the band has only had a few successful singles here in Australia, they are kind of a big deal overseas.

The live show if anything is proof that over the many years of the band’s career they have fine tuned their sound, which for a three piece, is absolutely huge. The big rock riffs in songs like Booooom, Blast & Ruin and the powerful closer Mountains, thunder like a band that should have more than one guitarist. There is plenty of colour as the group offer up a range of songs from their catalogue, with the focus obviously being on the newest record Revolutions.

The energy of the set slows down near the midsection for some acoustic versions of Folding Stars and Diary Of Always, showing a softer side to the band which is often hinted at in the heavier songs but never explored to this depth. With a massive nineteen song set there is plenty of time for the band to impress with their tight playing, stellar harmonies and fantastic lyrics. The lyrical highlight being the short and sweet God & Satan, during which front man Simon Neil sings “I talk God as much and I talk to Satan cause I want to hear both sides.”

The accompanying DVD, which is the visual of the audio disc, shows the band members with their shirts off a little too much as well us the energy that they put into the live show. The bonus features include an extra performance of Only Reflections live from the T in the Park festival, as well as a track by track commentary from the band members. Whether you know them well or not, this little package really shows what Biffy Clyro are all about on a grand scale.
