Thirsty Merc - When TheWeather Is Fine

Thirsty Merc show off a gentler side with their latest single, When The Weather Is Fine.
It’s nice to see a band venture out of their safety zone and go for something a little different, especially when they manage to pull it off. It’s good to know they’re not releasing another catchy pop song, with your usual all-too-familiar guitar and vocal arrangement, to get heard (but if that’s what you’re into then don’t despair, there’s something here for you too).
When The Weather Is Fine is a genuinely romantic track, focusing around the gentle sounds of the piano. It starts off delicately with undiluted piano and vocals then builds up to the backing of a soft and steady drum rhythm. The vocals make sure you can feel the raw emotion seeping out of this ballad through lyrics like
When the weather is fine
I will be with you and No one can see
What the future will be
But I’ll feel for you.
It’s a love song the way it’s meant to be.
B-sides Baby Tell Me I’m The Only One and Crystal Striker are a more familiar sound for those yearning familiar ground (and a good excuse to buy the single if you’re trying to hide the fact you enjoy a good love song). An alternate video for Someday Someday and the dusty Wasting Time video are also an added bonus.
