Dananananaykroyd - ThereIs A Way

Glasgow indie-pop, energy drink inspired group Dananananaykroyd have pulled out the stops to their second LP release There Is A Way, jam-packing it full of raw energy and enthusiasm. Famous for their dynamic recordings and exuberant performances, this group is just simply a compressed bottle of excitement, waiting to explode upon an audience by the first listen.

Muscle Memory is the lead single and is Dananananaykroyd in a nutshell; fun, exciting and extremely engaging. The song opens with a catchy guitar riff, which acts as a guide the through the song. The chorus however, is where this act truly shines, as all members scream at the top of their lungs, “play along cos I know the chords muscle memory,” which contains such an uplifting spirit and energising atmosphere, its almost impossible not to get into it, which is all you could hope for when writing the first single for an album.

The four elements that are essential for a Dananananaykroyd track are fast tempos, intense vocal harmonies, guitar distortion and quickly changed chord progressions that could literally cause a heart attack. They’re that intense. On that topic, this Scottish sextet are quite familiar with medical issues tied to their Australian performances, with former drummer John Baille Jr, breaking his arm into three pieces at Sydney’s Splendour in the Grass sideshow at The Annandale Hotel in 2009. This year, they have decided to emulate that precise tour, with another Splendour in the Grass tour, which sees them head again to The Annandale to make amends for the arm smashing gig.

There Is A Way again sees Dananananaykroyd bursting with energy and despite its lack of groundbreaking songwriting, the overall experience is pure excitement and suggests that they’ll be unmissable live.
