The Temper Trap -Conditions Remixed

The Temper Trap can honestly be described as one of Australia’s great successes of recent times. Coming off the success of the platinum selling, critically acclaimed debut, The Temper Trap have released an remixed version of Conditions featuring classy remixes from the likes of Peter, Bjorn & John, PVT and Sister Bliss and Rollo (two thirds of Faithless).
The most enjoyable remix comes from Swedish indie folk-lords Peter, Bjorn & John, with their beautiful arrangement of Fools. They master the track to create a bright and bubbly sound which almost improved on the the original. *Three Trapped Tigers*’ remix of Rest keeps most elements from the original track but adds some additional beats and sounds that enhance the mood rather than reinventing it entirely.
Another track that truly stands out for its unique interpretation is BretonLabs mix of Drum Song, which features the hip-hop vocals of Kate Tempest. For those who would be under the impression that rapping combined with a Temper Trap melody cannot work, prepare to be proven wrong. The beats created within the original are maintained and accentuated into the ideal conditions for British rhyme.
Sweet Disposition, the most popular single on Conditions, has only been altered in the backing track and a slight effect on the vocals. The structure hasn’t been changed into some odd style, which is a huge relief as this track demands respect and the conservative mix by Alan Wilkis has proven to be a successful one. However Sydney math rock group PVT have positively demolished Dougy Mandagi’s vocals as Fader is transformed it into a science-fiction soundtrack that only slightly resembles the original due to the repetition of the chorus at the introduction.
The Temper Trap tracks have been remixed into a new experience, which isn’t quite as amazing as the original, but it then it was always a tall order to try to improve an album as assured as Conditions.
