Regurgitator -Distractions

Regurgitator has never been the type of band that sticks to the script, constantly trying new things, like the band in the bubble idea, and making the process of music creation an interesting one/
Now the group has decided to adapt to the times and do away with the concept of the record, opting instead to release music on an “as it comes” basis. After all it makes sense, people can now buy their music individually and create their own play lists so easily that the concept of an album as a piece of work is becoming less necessary. It is for this reason that the two main members of the band, Quan Yeomans and Ben Ely, have relocated to Melbourne and set up home studios, from which they will release music whenever and however they feel like. The first is a collection of four tracks titled as Distractions, with each member responsible for two songs.
The first track belongs to Yeomans, Making No Sense, an attitude heavy, beat driven, electro glitch song full of melodic hooks. The lyrical content is still as off kilter as usual but undeniably catchy nonetheless. The title track Distractions, belongs to Ely and shows the group dynamics by being as power pop as ever, similar to the band’s earlier material.
The other Yeomans offering, named after the artist Miranda July, is a song about a girl that poor Quan likes who will never be interested in him set to the backing track of the EP’s best party jam. The closer Midday Sun, is interesting and seems more like it should be a Yeomans track than an Ely track, as its is a shimmering affair of electronic noises which is probably one of the most enjoyable songs of the four.
With absolutely no common theme, Regurgitator have successfully began their quest to re-invent the landscape of musical delivery and if there is one band that could pull it off, it’s them.
