Jackson Browne - Love IsStrange
Thu 8th Jul, 2010 in Music Reviews
Jackson Browne toured Spain with long time musical partner David Lindley in 2006 playing concert halls, rock venues and smaller clubs. This CD re-caps the two week sojourn.
For Browne the tour was a labour of love. This release is filled with beautiful picking with Lindley playing fiddle, Hawaiian guitar, bouzouki and oud. The pair sound like two young men here, truly in love with what they are doing.
The music played is dazzling and the crowds seemed to eagerly lap it up. Lindley lights up proceedings with his humour, playing and singing as he breaks out Mercury Blues, El Rayo-X, and even Love Is Strange/Stay. Jackson covers the crowd pleasers such as Take It Easy, Late For The Sky, These Days (with Luz Casal on vocals), For Everyman and an excellent reading of Running On Empty.
Both of these gentlemen have made a wonderful statement that life itself does not end in your 60s, even if you are a star from that decade. Simply they are doing what they love and the love shines through on this excellent sounding live recording.
