There’s a naïve charm that makes Aberfeldy’s Love Is An Arrow this delightful little acoustic song that, without doubt, strikes a deeper chord than first impressions may lead you to believe.

Sickly sweet couplets

“Love is a verb and a noun as well
You find it in the dictionary under ‘L’”

and eternally youthful at heart, Riley Briggs has crafted nothing short of a pop gem with this single, clocking in at under two and a half minutes.

For the hopelessly romantic, its all about the wonder of being in love: a feeling that can be everything and everywhere at once, yet completely indefinable and intangible.

With daydream-like backing vocals and a breezy tempo, this is definitely a great antidote to the more cynically driven sounds coming out of London and the crassly titled ‘80’s revival ‘art-rock’ wave sweeping over us.

With a beauty that would sit nicely next to Blur’s Tender, Aberfeldy seem to lack, thankfully, the frantic panic of their musical peers. Without the crush of frustration and clinging moments of desperation Love Is An Arrow is the finest of places to find yourself feeling good about you and the world around you.
