Fighterpilot have unleashed a beast of a debut album in Silver Bullet…Plastic Gun , a world class release which should make rock fans very excited. Silver Bullet…. is the firstrelease from the Adelaide band who have payed their dues on the local scene, having tasted minor success in the past with 2003’s Auto Rock ep and the bands self titled release from 2002. In between releases Fighterpilot have done the hard yards on the live cicuit both in Adelaide and interstate.

Animal sets the scene for Silver Bullet… perfectly, a huge stadium rock track which demonstrates the talents of Fighterpilot right off the bat. Everything is big in this track from the fat guitars to the pounding rythym section and huge vocals. The strings add a anthemic touch to this fist pumper. A guarentee live favourite which will certainly have fists pumping at a venue near you soon.

Fall to Your Knees opens with a cool sleazy sounding riff with a catchy as hell chorus. The song draws comparisons to Velvet Revolver until you get to the Reverends hilarious spoken word sample which complements the mood of the track perfectly. Four Rounds is a mid tempo rocker which again highlights the huge vocal talents of Daniel Randell as well as giving guitarist Matt Williams time to shred prog rock style with a very cool solo. She Said shows off an early Alice In Chains style which again has a melody that has that knack of staying in your head all day as does The Same as You which kicks along nicely in the same vein and will have you singing along in no time.

The album is full of songs built for the live arena. Previous single The World Can’t Touch Me sounds huge and simply jumps out of the speakers at you which is testament to the brillaint production. See You Next Tuesday is in the same boat displaying a raw energy and power which seems to be a theme throughout the album. If your not sucked in by the massive singalong chorus’s you will be blown away by the shredding guitar solo’s and pure ‘rock out’ value of the music.

The tempo slows down a bit with ‘restrained’ stadium rocker Wait A While a song which has received a load of airplay and will be a favourite with the ladies. It is probably the most commercial song from the batch and could make waves for the band. Save Yourself reminded me of very early Def Leppard (which is a good thing) and then Can’t See the Light gives a final singalong which is simply made for crowd participation.

Silver Bullet…Plastic Gun is a collection of fist pumping anthems, shredding solo’s and huge singalongs recommended for fans of Velvet Revolver, Audioslave and Guns n Roses. If you like your rock big – go get this now!
