28 Days - Birthday
Sat 4th Dec, 2004 in Music Reviews
Yes that’s right, 28 Days are back. After taking a small break, they haven’t changed it a bit. Their sound is still loud, solid and fast. Their latest single Birthday is fun, and with their speed and energy I can see the fans going absolutely crazy already. Channel V loves the Aussie boys and their clip was played continuously on Rage before being released, so someone up there must really like them.
After hearing three different versions of this one song (which was pretty much like having it on repeat) I’ll admit to having a groove around the bedroom. It’s quite catchy. But then again anything is with lyrics like “Shake it, shake it”. The live versions of both Birthday and Use it are way under standards, the quality is sub-standard with excessive bass and poorly mixed levels.
Use it is another example of what 28 Days are all about. This song is a lot angrier, and with the inclusion more effects the music carries a lot more of a serious side.
All in all, 28 Days are still the same band that the Australian public has grown to know and love. Birthday is reminiscent of previous releases with only slight nuances. There is an opportunity to do anything to these guys – groove, head bang, yell and scream. Two words that come to mind: Loud and Fast.
