Powderfinger - Stumblin'

www.fasterlouder.com.au

Powderfinger have released their fifth single from their latest album Vulture Street. It’s Stumblin’, which is one of the strongest songs from the disc. It’s a big call because there are many great tracks on that album, but it is this song that speaks to me the most.

I liked this song the very first time I heard it.  The pace of the song, every guitar riff and solo in the song really suit the title.  There is no urgency to Stumblin’, all the instruments are set to a relaxed and comfortable tempo that is in no way intrusive, including a solo with a similar sound to those of Led Zepplin and Eric Clapton. The song has a real flow to it that makes it hard to dislike, it will have you moving to the music before you realise it.  I can just see myself stumbling down the street to this song, because it just makes me want to move that way. Great work!

The song’s lyrics describe a particular lifestyle or personality, and the ability of that personality to keep marching through life regardless of other people or situations around them. “It’s not such a beautiful day, but I will stumble through all the same,” sings Bernard on the track.

The CD single includes only two songs, a live and album version of the song, so you will not get any new, non-album tunes here.
