Internal Affairs @ Jamison Inn18/07/07
Tue 24th Jul, 2007 in Gig Reviews
Internal Affairs headed back for another Australian Tour, and after playing at Hardcore 07 expectations were high. With Supports from No Apologies (Syd), and locals; Hard Luck, Slow Burn and Eat A Brick. It was defiantly a great night of hardcore acts at the Jamison Inn.
First up were Eat A Brick. After playing only a ten minute set, they left people somewhat confused. After playing two or three originals and a cover, it was hard to really make up your mind on their sound. Hopefully the next time these guys hit the stage they will have a decent length set.
Next up were locals Slow Burn. Slow Burn has continually been supporting a lot of the touring hardcore bands that play in Canberra such as Agnostic Front and Mindsnare. Their fan base seems to be growing and they seem a lot tighter as band. Fast guitar riffs and melodic vocals got the crowd up and moving.
As more people piled into the venue and bar was looking bare Hard Luck began there set. Hard Luck have been around for a long time, and have developed a loyal fan base of locals. They had the circle pit moving and a lot of people dancing. Many punter were strutting their merch through out the night. There sound is fast and embracive, with melodic riffs and energetic screams its no surprise that they won over so many punters.
No Apologies were next up, and showed why they got national support for this tour. There fast dynamic style of hardcore was a force to be reckoned with. Its no wonder that there new album was featured on Short Fast Loud last week, as there songs are catchy and easy to dance to. The band even celebrated one of their members birthdays. There was streamers and party hats everywhere.
Finally the main act Internal Affairs hit the stage. Their guitarist was even singing along to a Motion City Soundtrack song which was playing over the P.A as they were setting up. Internal Affairs had expeditious and energetic songs that even had punters jumping off the large speaker systems. This was put to an end when some punters learnt the meaning of public liability. Which is fair enough as a lot of people were getting hurt, by people landing on them.
With birthday celebrations and some great bands local, interstate and internationally it was good to see that hardcore can bring a variety of people of different ages together. The old, the young and the in between came together for a great night of hardcore, with no fighting and few problems.
