Something with Numbers @ TheGaelic Club (05/05/07)

Saturday was a good night to hit The Gaelic Club, as this was best exemplified by the three Aussie acts that rocked the house down.

The first of the line up was Central Coast outfit The Lazys, whose enthusiasm and showmanship was strong. The band appeared fearless onstage as they belted out numbers Airhead, Locked down, Jam and Love your gun.

The energy was not lost there as Melbournians The Inches seared the stage with a Theatre vs. The 70s feel to their performance. Andrew Furze’s vocals left one in a heady swirl with belters Is it good? and Dress like God.

The Inches have come a long way since hitting the airwaves with Undercover. Their best-known song to date received a warm reception as the audience danced away to this familiar number.

With adrenalin on the rise, Something with Numbers was themain contender to completing a great night. There was a lovely air of unity on stage spilling out into the audience as they danced and moshed along. Jake Grigg was amazing as he conversed with the audience and held their attention via his crisp vocals.

It is difficult to articulate how truly wonderful Something with Numbers were. There was a sensation that was magical. The setting was right, the audience was pumped and the songs were smashing, including “What Is This?” Bring me Some Water and Agony. The boys excited the audience even more with a cover of Run to Paradise and a rendition of their latest single Goodbye Mickey Finn.

The real highlight of the night was the union of all three bands singing Hold on Fire. Drunk as skunks, the amorous coming together was a joy to watch.
