Acid Eyeliner w/ Another Day Down, Armageddon Sky, Future Forgotten
Embassy Hotel, Penrith – Sunday 29th April 2007
By 1.30 pm there was a noticeable crowd gathered outside the Embassy Hotel. When the doors opened at 2pm a steady flow of keen kids and supportive adults streamed through the doors.
Future Forgotten, a local band from Sydney, were the first to take the stage. Their exuberant confidence was contagious and set the par for the night. All bands were now going to have to step up and match their stage presence.
After a short thirty minute set and leaving the crowd with out playing the requested encore, Armageddon Sky burst onto stage with an electric opening song. The crowd stood stunned as they watched their lead singer, Dan Oswin run around on stage, dance with the mic stand and climb on top of the amps during their set. Their blend of alternate rock and hardcore had the crowd dancing, and a small group of local Sydney girls singing along to the Melbourne bands songs.
The size of the crowd increased dramatically when Another Day Down hit the stage. Everyone was wondering how a band with so much energy and eccentric dance moves could fit onto such a small stage. But even with 5 members on stage and insane guitar swings, there were still no injuries. Songs such as ‘_The Life Of Laura Jane’_ and ‘Blank’ were clearly the hits of the night, the whole room was singing along with the Brisbane five piece.
By 5pm the crowd had been upfront dancing for 3 hours and still totally pumped for what was to come. The bar had been set so high, that only the headline act Acid Eyeliner could top it. They opened with ‘Red Light Racecar Driver’ to a room of excited fans. Mid way through the performance, drummer, Murray Danger, showcased his amazing skills on his brand new drum kit with a 5 minute + drum solo. Coming back to play a few slow songs, then finishing with hit single ‘Pennylane’ and ‘Kissing you in the driveway’ left fans completely satisfied.
Merch sales were through the roof, some bands selling out of CDs and shirts. Fans were delighted to meet the stars onstage and show their appreciation. It should be noted that no matter how exhausting their performances were, all bands stayed back to watch each other play and meet the punters. This contributed greatly to the atmosphere and success of the night.
