First up tonight is local Gold Coast act Pleasant Mans’ Bag. A 4 piece band newly formed from Palm Beach blew the night away with an unforgettable performance. A funky beat combination from drummer Tim O’Keeffe and bass player Ged Bourke set the scene for an old school psychedelic performance that proved to be a crowd winner tonight. Old School 70’s aviators with the glasses removed guitarist Mark Hill lights the night on fire. Although only a small gathering of people have set foot into the venue to watch this first band, it is obvious by crowd’s reaction that these guys are certainly making jaws drop.

Through the set, lead vocalist and guitarist Warren Musgrove swaps places with drummer Tim O’Keeffe. O’Keeffe begins drumming to the beat with bongo drums letting a mellow relaxed set of tunes flow about the venue. Musgrove’s vocals are strong and smooth providing a powerful feeling of confidence among the group. The members movements about the stage are relaxed and passionate only adding to the ever presence of stardom.

Next up is Kennedy Mansion. Walking out on stage in a bright green pair of trousers, a long sleve shirt with the majority of the buttons undone showing a little bit of chest hair, a funky hair style and set of aviators front man Matt Connollys kicks the night off. Although looking relatively mellow and relaxed on stage the strong vocals presented by Matt Connollys is rough and edgy proving to be a major disadvantage through tonight’s set. Although some tunes provide a catchy note or two the sound is not up to scratch which in turn is letting these enthusiastic guys down. As Kennedy Mansion power through the set the reaction of the fans is mixed. The determination on the members face is worthy but Kennedy Mansion finishes off the set leaving a sign of disappointment amongst fans.

Headliners Liquidate pull in a big crowd to finish the night off. Their first long awaited headlining show at the Coolangatta Hotel doesn’t disappoint. The crowd is quiet yet curious as the atmosphere is tense. There is no lighting or movement about the stage only adding to a curious atmosphere building up within the venue. Fans make their way to the front barrier where they perch and wait anxiously for Liquidate to arrive on stage.

The lights on the stage light up and drummer Nathan Lambourn puts away a few beats as the other members make their way up on stage. With a quick hello from the band the night kicks off to a great start. Guitarist Marcus Mercer pulls in a great show tonight. Stealing the crowd’s attention with his strong vocals and smooth guitar rifts. Queen Majestic is a crowd favourite which allows the fans to absorb the beautiful flow of guitarist Rob Bostock’s fingers and passion to which he plays his riffs. His relaxed and calm statue is unbelievable as his talent shines on.

Spraying bourbon from his mouth in a true rock star fashion, Lambourn plays his drums like never before. The drumming beat along with the bass line from Sam Mercer provides a strong bond only adding strength to the unique sound of the band. Liquidate finish the night off in style as the band gather around the drum kit and play their hearts out to The State. With a quick thank you from the band, Liquidate leave the stage, leaving a satisfied look upon fan’s faces as they begin to exit.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
