Brisbane locals Each Revolving Door start the night off with a show that does not disappoint. Front lady Kirsti Smith puts forward a strong performance with her enthusiastic and passionate vocals and a great bass line that is integral to the bands sound. ERD then play a familiar tune which doesn’t go unnoticed. It was a cover of Everclear’s Heroin Girl. Drumming sounds mellowing from drummer Scotty at the back of the stage, along with the plucking beats from Kirsti’s bass, a feeling of amazement is left amongst the faces in the crowd. Lead guitarist Az produces a unique style of sound and presence on stage that only adds to ever presence of rock.

Local Gold Coast act Liquidate, play their first unbelievable and passionate set of tunes that keeps the crowd grasping for more. The fans are perching just comfortably on the stage barrier as the band kicks off the night. Funky and mellow beats flow from drummer Nathan Lambourn, on the track When I am with you to provide an insight to the passion and strength that these Liquidate boys have to offer. Between songs Justify and Colorblind, Lambourn lets out a quick drumming beat and before the crowd realises, a drumming solo has begun. Lowering his head for a second and a quick return with a whistle in the mouth his funked up drumming beats begin. Plucking his strings with a distinct look of concentration and passion on his face, bass player Sam Mercer doesn’t disappoint at tonight’s gig. His ability to produce a strong plucking sound along with the drumming beat of Lambourn is immaculate and well-built. Last song of the night The State is a crowd stealer. With strong vocals by Marcus Mercer and a great blend of guitar rifts, the crowd is focused. Guitarist Rob Bostock lets his fingers flow over his guitar strings in such a fashion to produce a pure sound that radiates out. Liquidate finish their set in style and with a quick “Thank You”, they leave the stage for the night.

Next on stage is Melbourne act Airbourne. Rising to much success over the last year with their 8 track EP Ready to Rock and a freshly signed 5 album record deal with Capitol Records, the night has just begun. Starting the set off with their shirts on, Airbourne unleash their fresh rock sounds. The variety of sounds is intense and certainly exciting. Front man Joel O’Keeffe is a reminder of a young AC/DC, lighting the night on fire.

Looking around at the crowd that has begun to surge forward, it seems as though Airbourne has brought out the rock within as the fans mosh the night away, flicking their long hair as they continue to let loose at the stage barrier. The stage is covered with VB cans and water bottles. The display of a VB can bursting open is not an uncommon sight for Airbourne tonight. With plenty of hydration from the numerous number of water bottles sitting next to the drum kit, Joel continues to pour the water over his hair and flick it around in a sudden rush of enthusiasm.

O’Keeffe’s on-stage antics and movements about the stage are unique. His enthusiasm does not go unnoticed nor does his vocals which provide a strong characteristic for the band. Drummer Ryan O’Keeffe drums his impact on tonight’s performance along with bass player Justin Streets. For most of the set Justin keeps his head lowered whilst playing his bass lines only adding to the presence of compassion within the band. David Roads plays a great rift of tunes from his guitar tonight, his style only contributing to the rock presence on the stage tonight.

With no more than 150 fans here tonight, Airbourne play there hearts out on stage. The passion within their set seems to win the hearts of the crowd tonight.
