“Cloud Room is way better than End of Fashion!”“Cloud Room rocks! End of Fashion sucks!”Are these comments supposed to be remarked at an End of Fashion gig? No one surrounding the two men battered an eyelid. Surely it is unacceptable. Or is it that End of Fashion have a stronger support act than themselves?
The Tivoli was jam-packed with eager fans on Friday night. Some rocked up for Sydney band Van She, whilst others clearly came for New York’s Cloud Room. With their catchy hand clapping hooks and toe tapping beats, Cloud Room did far from disappoint. Yet despite the comments of several patrons and Cloud Rooms killer performance, End of Fashion were the deserved headliners of the night. Still in the early stages of their Aussie tour, the lads from End of Fashion resembled young boys in a candy store – smirking with excitement over the screeching females in the front rows. Never a disappointment, front man Justin’s vocals were an impressive solid performance. With a majority female crowd, the boys soon took to teasing the fans through stage front guitar solos and Liam Gallagher postures by Justin.
Seeing that End of Fashion have sung the same tunes for several years now, you would think such dreary repetition would appear evident within their set. However, the band polished off their entire debut album with utter enthusiasm and expertise. The crowd was even fortunate enough to hear two brand new songs.
As expected, ‘O Yeah’ was the track that truly stirred up the crowd. But the definite highlight of the set was during the encore singing of ‘Rough Diamonds’ as the entire audience sang along to the “naa naa naas” whist swaying their arms in the air. Above all it was a ripper of a night. Three great solid acts rolled into one rocking evening.
