It’s a Wednesday night, the quarry is calling and it’s going to be a wine filled night with great company. The Crowd is sitting back with food and their wine and ready for Benedict Moleta, the support act of the evening. His final song was particularly Radiant.

The Quarry was eager for Lior, and as he stepped onto stage, the crowd cheered and welcomed him back to Perth. His voice echoed off the quarry walls and people were drawn inexorably into his lyrical and musical world. Relaxed, the crowd was transported and guided through the musical landscape.

The set was starred with songs from his new album, but it was classic such as Daniel from his first album Autumn Flow that really had the crowd excited. Another highlight of the night was the title track of his latest album, Tumbling into the Dawn. Lior introduced a song written a time long gone when he visited his friend in Sydney, who lived across from the Gap, a cliff face that falls into the ocean and rocks making it a popular area for suicides. Charlie wanted to end his life, but ended up fighting for it, as he ended up not on the rocks, but in the ocean… The lyrics were beautifully able to transport listeners to the cliff face to witness the struggle.

Lior also played I’ll Forget you with an audience member, Karen, he accidentally picked her at last year’s Art Gallery gig when she volunteered to sing a duet with him. He was so impressed with her performance that he asked her to play the Quarry Gig.

As the set drew to its end, the crowd eagerly awaited This Old Love but when he announced that it would be his last song, it took the crowd a few seconds to realise he’d given them what they wanted.

A great night filled with great Australian talent and in beautiful location.
