The Temper Trap @ Live at theChapel, Sydney (24/11/10)

Industry insiders, VIPs and competition winners were treated to a religious experience on Tuesday night as apart of this season’s first Russian Standard Vodka’s Live at the Chapel. However it was The Temper Trap not the man upstairs who was the evening’s main attraction.

St Stephen’s Church/cemetery hosted the iconic series, which saw the band pay favourites from their insanely awesome debut album Conditions. The church was lit with ambient lighting and candles burned in the background which blended perfectly with the bands atmospheric sound. They opened with an instrumental that lead into their first song Rest which got the crowd bopping in the pews of the church. Next up the band performed the new single Fader followed by Down River which inspired the audience to clap along.

The band seemed genuinely excited to be playing this unique venue and even thanked Reverend Peter Rogers for allowing them to perform in the scared space. The acoustics of the church worked perfectly with lead singer Dougy’s impeccable vocals. This was especially apparent as he sang Love Lost with such conviction and heart. It was obvious the passion displayed by the band resonated with the captivated audience.

In this incredibly tight set the band continued to play their most loved songs. A holy moment was no doubt experienced by the crowd as the band started to play Sweet Disposition. Some members of the audience were obviously taken out of this world with many punters raising their arms and singing along with feeling to this epic song.

The Temper Trap’s performance will be broadcast on the Channel Nine on Thursday 16th December.
