Boy & Bear, Passenger @ OxfordArt Factory, Sydney(31/10/2010)

On this all hallows eve the Oxford Art Factory opened its doors to the anything but scary line-up of the ‘Blood to Gold’ tour of Passenger and Sydney-based headliners Boy & Bear. On the closing night of the tour, and second Sydney show it was presumed there would be magic in the air, as well as fine tunes. Each of the artists were truly spellbinding, mesmerising their audience that crammed into the small but charismatic venue, anticipating the fresh new sounds and to celebrate Halloween in style.

Passenger, the brainchild of Mike Rosenberg a unique Brighton born singer/songwriterm has received a positive response here in Australia. His stage presence was magical to say the least on the ominous night of Halloween. Channeling indie legends Angus and Julia Stone and Mumford and Sons with amazing singles off his new record, Flight of the Crow, he had the audience in a trance, hanging onto each chord and syllable, eager for more. Passenger was more than promising in delivering an amazing close to the Blood to Gold tour, honouring the headliners and their fans and truly preparing the audience for an amazing show.

However Boy & Bear stole the night. The crowded house had waited eagerly for all night for the band, drinks and costumes in tow, and the boys surely did not disappoint, performing hits that have identified their distinct sound. With raving reviews from prestigious media outlets, the fresh new Sydney-siders have truly made Australia proud, being referred to as Australia’s answer to Grizzly Bear and The Fleet Foxes. They truly blew the audience all to hell – very fitting on this particular evening. Going out with a bang, with singles like Rabbit Song and Mexican Mavis the audience were left with a bloodlust for more, craving this party to carry on until dawn.

that was a quote from a uk media outlet, plus i wasn't there to review the chemist

how about you submit a review on them if you enjoyed it so

First off, why did you put it in your review without quotemarks and without saying it was from a different outlet? I assume you haven't finished high school, but perhaps you've heard of something called "plagiarism"?

Passenger was on first, the The Chemist, then Boy & Bear. Why would you come, leave during the second act and not mention them at all, and then come back? Seems a bit pointless, especially if you have been sent to the show to review the show.

look its just an review of two bands i was told to review, let it go.

and quotation marks are only required if it is a direct quote, which it wasnt and i back that.

go do something more productive.

Again, you do not understand how this website works. If you've been asked to review a show, you review the show - you review every act that plays. If you're late, fine, but intentionally missing a support when you're already there is not on.

And let's make this clear - first it was a quote from something else and now it's not? What the fuck is it, then?

Gotta say, Passenger is pretty awesome live. Saw his show at the Raval a few weeks back, and he is a funny dude

It's not plagiarism - if she'd put in in quotes it would have read as a sly dig at the bands. It's an opinion, an odd opinion granted, but an opinion nonetheless.

The approval fro the review did specify Boy and Bear and Passenger, without mentioning The Chemist so it's understandable as to why she misinterpreted it and only covered the bands mentioned. It's odd, but it's hardly a crisis that deserved such outrage.
