Senses Fail @ Fowler's Live,Adelaide (20/08/10)

Four years after last gracing us with their presence, Senses Fail pack out Fowlers Live in a night of pure energy and rock ‘n roll.
Having unfortunately missed My Catalyst, Day On Fire were my first band of the evening. The local lads have certainly come a long way in a short period of time. Their raw energy was the perfect introduction for the headliners. While songs off their EP, The Only Way We’re Leaving Here Is Together were well received, new song Lasso Baby was the highlight of their short set, making an upcoming demo release an exciting prospect.
Main support for the tour, The Mission In Motion are clearly a well-loved band in Adelaide. Kicking things off with The News the Sydney group got straight into a spectacular and extremely enthusiastic set.
While perhaps not the energetic powerhouse one might expect for this support slot, they certainly know how to entertain. Album track, New Skin is a great pop punk song, complimenting a tight set. Their latest release, Somewhere Safe is out now, and well worth a listen.
Anybody who has seen Senses Fail live before, knows what an outstanding live band they are. Their energy and passion for what they do only grows with time, and they brought all of both to Adelaide.
Vocalist James Nielson was a treat between songs, his amusing chit-chat keeping things interesting, and ensured the audience were involved with the show.
All members of the band looked like they were having a great time and encouraged fan participation. Rum Is For Drinking, Not For Burning, Bloody Romance, and Wolves At The Door were solid crowd pleasers, while Family Tradition ensured there would not be a still body in the room.
Shows like these remind you that there are bands who have been doing the circuit for years and still care about their fans, and still care about their music. The genuine enjoyment Senses Fail appeared to have on Friday night was very satisfying, and their positive attitudes were reflected in the two hundred- odd die hard fans in attendance. Guitarists Zack Roach and Garrett Zablocki tore up the stage, while Nielson made more than one trip into the pulsing mosh pit.
Finishing with killer track (no pun intended) One Eight Seven, there was no encore, but there was no need for one. Senses Fail well and truly delivered what fans had wanted, and then some.
