Band of Horses brought their low key rock to On the Brightside on Saturday in Perth. They lived up to their own “easy listening” label (listed as one of their genres on their MySpace page).
Many punters chose to chatter amongst themselves throughout the set with others using the time to recuperate after thrashing about during Bluejuice, Hot Chip and Art Vs Science. Perhaps it wasn’t wise to place Band of Horses on the bill after three energetic dance bands.
However there were some dedicated fans that got to the front and sang along, screaming and cheering. The band themselves is a stand and deliver outfit, letting the music speak for itself. It seemed like they would have been more suited to a contained area like a smoky bar where their presence wouldn’t be lost on people looking for party time all the time.
Set list for Band of Horses at On the Bright Side:
Too Soon
The Great Salt Lake
Is There A Ghost
Laredo
No One’s Gonna Love You
Factory
Compliments
The General Specific
Funeral
Ode to LRC
Am I A Good Man
