Black Ryder are an interesting band, due to their unique and diverse musical qualities. Their presence and ability comes across as a multi-layered symphony filled with creepy, dream-like, beatnik sounds that are encrusted with a tier of rock music. The aura of Black Ryder is somewhat chaotic, wrapped neatly in a clear layer of black cellophane that portrays a suave and sophisticated package.
Miss Aimee Nash is striking, in control and very much the leader of the pack. Her vocal range could be wider and occasionally you can’t hear her. Scott Von Ryper is equally as striking and familiar with his well formed music. There seems to be a little competition between Nash and Von Ryper, and it doesn’t feel pleasant.
Black Ryder’s many faceted sensory compositions of Outside, Gone Without Feeling and Sweet Comedown were highlighted by the haunting stage lights.
Whilst standing in the moshpit of The Cult, it is very difficult not to dance. The crowd drinks in every minute movement of The Cult and willingly gives back praise to their favourite band. It is obvious that it is the fans that give the infamous band their purpose to deliver a heavy rocked out show.
The largely traditional non-conformist, eccentric, old school band awards our aural senses with tripped out guitar riffs that take you away to a land of fairies. Percussionist, John Tempesta is unifying the magical guitar resonance with a perfect slant of dynamic, tight and crisp pulsates on the skins. Ian Astbury ‘s vocals are forcefully rough and mesmerising at the same time. The amalgamation of these well trained music professionals equals a live performance like no other.
Despite the pure inhalation of The Cult by the audience, the band are somewhat dark and moody. Nevertheless, these classic performers are giving their all and the crowd is going wild. The Cult certainly excited fans with their systematic musical repertoire.
