The night started with a long line down Murray St, with the eager crowd wanting to get in before all the tickets were gone. Most people were anxious to see the “Don’t flight it guys”, with several people in the crowd singing the song until the doors opened.
The first band up were Brisbane’s 5 piece band, the Bloodpoets, that got the crowd dancing with their Kisschasy influenced guitar riffs, catchy lyrics and keyboards. During their set the band started talking to the crowd, mentioning next stop on their tour was Busselton, and that they’d never been there before, they asked what there was to see in Busselton, someone from the crowd yelled “a jetty”, which gave some amusement to the band.
Next band to hit the stage were Matheson from Victoria, with a very raw sound, similar to that of UK rockers Kings of Leon, were a sure-fire hit. Matheson got the crowd jumping with their infectious indie tunes.
It was clear that it was The Panics’ show, as soon as they hit the stage the crowd responded to every guitar riff and lyric that was sung. As a local Perth band, the locals came out in support. They played both old and new songs, catering for new fans and old ones too, it was thier biggest hit Don’t Fight It that really got the crowd singing along.
It was a great night, enjoyed by all, even if we all had to wakeup early the next day for work.
