Eskimo Joe can be considered as one of Australia’s best rock acts in recent years. Extensive touring and a new album having just been released, the band is at the peak of their career.

Steve Parkin kicked off the night at Brisbane Riverstage on a relaxing, laid back note but still kept the audience interested with a unique rendition of Beyonces’ All The Single Ladies.

Bob Evans graced the stage next and belted out a strong 45 minute set which included Someone So Much, Nowhere Without You, Don’t You Think It’s Time, to name a few and finished with We’re A Mess. The crowd grew throughout his set and by the time Eskimo Joe came onstage it was packed.

Eskimo Joe’s set began with a bang and finished with an even bigger bang. Sirens sounded introducing the boys onstage and into their first song Foreign Land. After the first couple of songs lead singer Kav asked the audience to vote on which album introduced them to the band and by the show of fans it was clear to see that there was a lot more old material fans than Inshalla-era fans present. Because of this the crowd was treated to newer songs off Inshalla but also older hits Sydney Song off their Girl album and Life Is Better With You from A Song Is A City. Songs off Black Fingernails, Red Wine also got an airing, including New York, This Is Pressure, Sarah, London Bombs and of course Black Fingernails, Red Wine.

Songs from Inshalla included in the set list were Falling For You, Losing Friends Over Love, Don’t Let Me Down, Inshalla and Childhood Behaviour which they dedicated to one of their friends who recently passed away.

The vocals were clear all night and the notes captured perfectly. After a short encore Steve Parkin and Bob Evans were brought back onstage for a group song. Bob performed while wrapped head to toe in toilet paper and by the looks of it no one on stage knew why.

After a bit of fun with the support acts, Eskimo Joe finished with We Can Get Together, which left the audience wanting more and more.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
