Ossuary 2 @ The Basement,Canberra, (23/05/09)

They came down hard and heavy for a night of face-melting metal tunes at The Basement on Saturday night. With a line-up consisting of home-grown locals, Ossuary 2 gathered together some of the ACT regions finest to record some tracks for the soon to be released Hard Act To Follow compilation which will showcase Punk, Metal and Hardcore bands from our Nations Capital. Featuring Na Maza, Friend or Enemy and Tortured, Ossuary 2 gave the regular Basement crowd more than their monies worth.
Friend or Enemy were the highlight of the night letting rip with a brutal set, with a mix of hammering vocals and screaming guitars they definitely had the full attention of the crowd. Hailing from Bungendore these not so newcomers to the scene are currently in the studio and will be releasing a full length album hopefully sometime in the next few months.
Na Maza with a recently changed line-up proved that they are now a force to be reckoned with. Listing influences Pantera and Slipknot, these guys led the crowd through metal masterpiece after metal masterpiece. They are certainly on to a winning combination, especially with the driving forces of newcomer drummer Dick.
Again an awesome night down at the Basement for fans of the hard and heavy, it’s really good to see a venue and local fans alike so strongly supporting this music. Keep an eye out for the Hard Act to Follow compilations which should be released fairly shortly. It will feature a smorgasbord of tasty metal morsels and will help support our local talent.
