A sense of excitement fills The Zoo tonight as the crowd gathers early for the entertainment that lies ahead. While QLD temperatures are starting to cool down, The Zoo begins to warm up nicely as the crowd are greeted by first act for the evening, Drawn from Bees.

With a powerful drum intro, Drawn From Bees, deliver their opening track All This Time, quickly directing the attention of an uncertain crowd toward the stage. The band maintains their intense presence throughout their set as they deliver a solid performance. Highlights such as Waiting for the End, Picture Show and second time performance of They Close the Door are definite crowd pleasers tonight. Closing on their current single, Long Tooth Setting Sun and a very powerful Amelia. All up a set not to have been missed.

Next up is Melbourne band Ground Components. They are very practiced on the gigging scene, having formed in late 2002. This band delivers a tight set of catchy guitar driven rock for The Zoo tonight. With opening song On Your Living Room Floor, lead singer Joe McGuigan rips out some heavy vocals grabbing the audience attention from the onset. Their sometimes laid back, groove driven songs share similarities to other greats such as Cat Empire and Nick Cave with the gruff vocals and trumpet inclusions in certain tracks. Hands in the Air is a highlight for tonight, again with strong vocals, this guitar driven song is a definite crowd pleaser.

Having played the Big Day Out circuit earlier this year among other festivals, Little Red take on their last touring dates before they hit the studio to record their next album. Anticipation in the crowd grows as Little Red enters The Zoo stage tonight. Kicking off their set of 50s lollypop rock inspired songs, this Melbourne act deliver an outstanding show the audience had been expecting. Songs like Jackie Cooper and Its Alright are distinct favorites. Highlight track Witchdoctor provides a solid wall of harmonies building the set nicely alongside tracks like Stare in Love where the band encourages the audience to clap while they sing along. The drummer takes to standing on the drum kit at certain stages throughout the set, only raising the crowd’s need to clap along in songs like Waiting. The vibe in the room is very dance and sing-a-long friendly tonight and it is clear that the final encore song Coca Cola is the better known in this Little Red set.
