With screams of girls in their party dresses and high heels trying to get out of the rain to be heard from the dark corners of The Zoo , you could see the smile on the faces of the crowd starting to climb up the venue’s red stairs ready for a night of Aussie electro/indie entertainment.

The local Brisbane band The Gallant was first up on the night’s bill. Members James (vocals), David (guitar), Jordan (bass) and Sam (drums) all took to the stage with excitement, playing songs from their EP with the crowd appreciating their Indie rock styling.

Next up on stage were The Dirty Secrets over from Perth, who were about to embark on their national tour Heat the Beat. With all the crowd excited to listen to the band with their sounds warmly received.

As eclecticly-styled people mingle in and out of the crowd, the electro/rock members of the Dukes of Windsor casually walk onto the stage wearing the traditional skinny black jeans and unwashed hair. Busting out with the song Refuse you could see that the crowd were here to rock with the band, singing each line – “Why do people dance like fire, Is it evil?”

Guitarist Oscar thanked the crowd for coming, while vocalist Jack interacted with the crowd and letting us all know that he was going to be performing one of the “shittest rockstar moves ever” by climbing the Zoo’s stage walls. Drummer Cory and keyboardist Scott stayed rather quiet throughout the set. The energetic bass player Joe used every inch of the stage, jumping on the stack of speakers while rocking out with the crisp catchy bass lines of Evil Women and Runaway just to name a few. The energy from the band really came to light with It’s a War its infectious chorus inciting a full sing-a-long.

Everyone was thrilled when Jack announced that they were just going to “Fuck the encore and let’s just fuckin’ rock”. Oscar with his relaxed confidence on stage and with Jack and Joe’s contagious laughter and shenanigans they played the bands new song Down in Dust with an excellent crowd response. Finally the gig drew to a close with no one standing still for the final song The Others .

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
