Local Melbourne boys, For Our Hero kicked the afternoon off with Bez, Knows The Score also Tell Em They’re Dreaming a Kanye West cover – Heartless and a few other songs from their upcoming EP Threw The Looking Glass (which is available later on this month)
This six piece certainly know how to get a crowd going, they finished with Mister Prozac. Best opening band seen that I’ve in a long time!
Sydney band, My Future Lies started their set of with Red Light Racecar Driver which got the crowd moving. Followed by songs from their debut album titled – My Future Lies. Songs like Future Lies, Kissing You In The Driveway and Penny Lane.
A lot of fans turned out to see the My Future Lie’s boys and were certainly lapping up the attention and lead singer Luke Lukess was doing his best to look out for the kids up the front by telling everyone to stop the pushing and shoving. Both support bands put on an amazing show and warmed up the crowd before Short Stack took to the stage.
Before Short Stack took the stage they had a video playing with clips from their previous tour, crazy antics and video clips. Also included was footage from earlier in the day when Short Stack arrived at the Corner Hotel and interviews with fans, that was enough to lift the roof of the place before they had even got on stage.
They opened with an older song, One Step Closer, Enough For Now and Drop Dead Gorgeous. They did two covers one of Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and then The Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop, which was sung by Shaun Diviney’s younger brother, Luke Diviney
Short Stack have amazing stage presence and interact with the fans as much as possible. Bass Player Andy Clemmensen helped the fans sing Happy Birthday to drummer, Bradie Webb. Signs for the boys where everywhere, definitely hard to ignore, just like the loud scream when Bradie Webb did his own drum solo that went for a few minutes and was amazing in its own right.
Shimmy a Go Go was the last song played before the encore, which then the fans screamed and chanted ‘Short Stack, Short Stack’. They came back out and played Thick As Thieves, Sway Sway Baby and finally Princess.
They played all their well known songs and afterwards they hung around signing autographs for an hour before leaving. Short Stack’s best performance to date and to quote the boys the show was ‘sexy, hot and cool!’
