CHECK OUT THE PICS!

If every Transit punter was asked what their favourite colour and type of shoe almost everyone would say Purple Sneakers, thankfully Boundary Sounds makes a habit of bringing everyone’s favourite DJ night to Transit once a month.

This time around Purple Sneakers decided to make the most of the evening and kick off festivities from 7pm. Maybe this early start was something Purple Sneakers wanted to use to mess with punters but there were plenty of kids already in Transit to start the night. And there was not a moment to be wasted last Friday night at Transit.

On the line-up this time around were not only Sneaker regulars Ben Lucid and Ph DJ but crowd favourites The Flaming Hips, Nugie (Young & Restless), Talihina Shan and Canberra’s The Magic Hands as well. This month was also about showcasing an album by a much loved artist, Animal Collective and their recent hit Merriweather Post Pavilion.

So as you can see from the line-up there was something there for everyone to enjoy. It was like Transit became the bar in the first Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi. It became the land of the unknown as the inhabitants of Transit were the most diverse crowd I have seen under the one roof in a long time. There was every genre of school group at Transit last Friday night. There were the jocks, the nerds, drama queens, straight As and the “It” girls (the plastics). But they all shared one common interest… the music.

Each DJ had a unique style and were easily distinctive from each other. Genres covered included hip-hop, R & B, pop, reggae, Latin, indie and alternative. Even if you weren’t in the mood for getting down and dirty or witnessing DJ magic, you could still appreciate it from where you were sitting on the lounges with your pals or by playing pool. That’s the DJ magic by the way.

The fun continued until it all had to come to an end at 5am and were just able to make your way home.
