Bar 32’s regular alternative and indie music extravaganza has matured and developed into a much loved and respected weekly event. In its two year run REV may prove to become more popular than ever in 2009.

Since the GFC (global financial crisis) is in the back of everyone’s mind, one way to cut back on expenses is to cut back on commercialism. This trend is beginning to shift from a minority to the majority at rapid pace as punters are in need of variety in their musical tastes and where else will they get it apart from Bar 32?

During the summer months Bar 32 has received a big boost in the variety of punters they are attracting. As indicted in REV’s slogan, indie/alternative night, a large amount of REV’s population has been punters of the alternative and outcast type, but now there has been a massive swing. Now Bar 32 are not only attracting – œthe regulars’ but punters you would expect to see at Mooseheads or ICBM who appear to be in need of some alternative goodness. It’s easy to see who these people are as they’re clothing is a bit more casual than that of the regulars choice of black clothing from head to toe and interesting hair.

All of the regular DJs are becoming some of the most renowned in Canberra as they play exactly what people want to hear without protest. As always artists including Ladyhawke, Cut Copy, PNAU and Grafton Primary go down a treat, but to keep people tuned in you have to keep them guessing. The DJs both downstairs and upstairs dusted off some old 80s and 90s pop rock, such as Beastie Boys and Michael Jackson. Although there was a clear distinction between the dance floors of upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs was for getting your rocks off on the dance floor with a deadly concoction of electro/dance pop and upstairs was for chilling out a little and sipping in the old school pop kings and queens on the lounge.

REV happens every Friday night at Bar 32.
