Ray Mann 3 plus The Transit Bar = One very slow night!

The majority of the early arrivals consisted of a bucks party, who even provided us with an impromptu set on the drums, no sticks just hands.

There were three sets, yes three. Should have maybe just been one as by the second people were starting to get up and leave. The sets consisting of one song with a jam for the rest of the hour. One set sounding exactly like the other. You could in fact have gone out for Mexican and come back and they would still be on the same song.

In saying that though, nothing can take away from the chemistry this threesome have. These boys from Sydney are extremely talented with their chosen instruments.

Ray Mann with his soulful vocals, having a Kravitz like softness about them. His fret fingering guitar solos had us all in awe of his prowess while in the jams. Sometimes the vocal were slightly incoherent but this maybe due to the rather large night they confessed to having the night before. “We had a rather unexpected large night last night in Sydney, I apologise if notes aren’t hit as I’m under par tonight, I’m very sorry about that” says Mann. Have to give it to the man for his honesty.

Grant Gerathy gave us energising drum solos randomly through the night. He has to be one of the most happiest drummers I have seen. Big smile on his face all night, having a laugh at Mann when he had his moments.

Byron Luiters was MIA last night, maybe due to the big night before, but nothing was lost in the bass department as fill in bassist Joel was the heartbeat of this act. Even with his own solos, Joel amazed us all, including Man and Gerathy, who picked up with his jam that followed.

All in all it was a good but not great night. Should maybe think about having either been a shorter set or larger repertoire.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
