“I still need to get changed” announced one member of Keith Party, as we rode the elevator to the third floor, where Roxanne’s was waiting. “We still have ten minutes before we have to be on stage,” came the reassuring reply. Apparently that was ample time.

Streamers were strewn across the stage, a jungle of party accessories. Once the many members of Keith Party hit the stage, streamers became necklaces as rhymes were thrown from one band member to the next. Small coloured paper squares rained from the sky, dancing became impossible to resist. They were the super-heroes, we were the captive audience.

A change of scene, announced Spod. Red flowers were presented to audience members by the friendly, mop-haired singer, who continued the streamer trend right throughout the show. Nintendo Gameboy and DS consoles became instruments, as Spod sung of cats and death, all the while flicking his hair and flinging himself about the stage with great energy. The lights swirled as he knelt to sing wholeheartedly into the microphone, and also as he fiddled with the dials and keys of the various noise making machines he held.

The floorboards were littered with paper, balloons and confetti, as Michael of Totally Michael placed his microphone stand in the midst of it all. He announced his interest in the sleeping habits of our native fauna, and mentioned his country of birth, before launching into an attack of lyrics. The dancefloor was now the stage, and the audience quickly became the band members and backup singers. Calling for repeated lyrics, or screams, much audience participation made sure this night was unforgettable in the minds of those who attended.

In a shower of confetti, the small crowd bounced, danced and screamed for more. The night was over, but the parties were just beginning.
