REV @ Bar 32, Canberra(12/09/08)
Sun 14th Sep, 2008 in Gig Reviews
As you should know by now REV is the place to go at the end of the week to either sit down and knock back a drink or two or dance to the alternative music (only played at REV) to help us all realise that it is now Friday and its time to party!
This week the theme seemed to be a gothic movie dress up party as there were Goths with spiky hair and wearing leather and chains. It was like walking into a film shoot for a Batman movie as everyone seemed to be wearing black, the lighting was dim and had rainbow colours shining around the room and ironically there were a couple of people there wearing Batman t-shirts.
The music added to the vibe of a gothic wonderland as the REV DJs belted out chick rock and other electro, alternative tunes which were popular amongst the crowd. To further add to that vibe there was a smoke machine that blew green coloured smoke around the dance floor and smelt like maple syrup. This smoke combined with the lights became nauseating for this reviewer after a while and had to go outside every half hour or so to get some fresh air which was being polluted by the smokers outside so it wasn’t refreshing all the time.
As mentioned in last week’s REV review the girl to boy ratio inside was slightly altered towards the boy direction for the first hour or so until some estrogen walked in to draft out the boy smell.
REV at Bar 32 each Friday always proves to be a chilled and relaxed atmosphere to spend your Friday nights so be there next week!
