CHECK OUT THE DEBAUCHERY AND FUN HERE!
Shakedown was shaking it up on Saturday night with a myriad of music courtesy of the Bar 32 DJs Chris, Ema and FL’s very own k-rad and Simmo. So what does Shakedown bring to the Canberra club scene that the other nights don’t? Well, for a start, you can’t easily pinpoint a genre because they play just about every style but with one thing in common – you can shake your booty. Pre the midnight hour the evening started out a little slow but that only gave the early birds more room to dance and quick access to the bar. It didn’t take long before the bar was jammed and all were up and moving. It was hit after hit from the decks including favourites Bloc Party, The Presets and The Rapture plus something different Babyshambles, Bonde do Role and Jimmy Eat World. Covering metal, alternative, punk, hip-hop and dance, there was something for everyone. The 90s made a feature, sporting tracks from the Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and even Silverchair, lending some credibility to the flannel clad lads!
The crowd was also quite the mix from punters that just wanted to dance to amusing drunken sleaze. There was debauchery on the couch and on the dance floor with lengthy and what appeared to be impromptu girl on girl action, which was more than likely played out for the male onlookers. In response, a couple of fellas showed them how it was really done and Paddy got it all on camera. Also in attendance were a couple of out of town motorcycle tourers from Victoria who fortuitously ended up at Shakedown by chance. They stuck around most of the night professing their love for the Capital and its humble
Bar 32. As usual, there were a few punters arriving in their formal wear following some kind of gala event to get their money’s worth from dry cleaning.
There was no time for intermission from all the dancing and the night went on with even the early birds continuing on well past 2am. Shakedown occurs weekly every Saturday night at Bar 32 so I suppose we’ll catch you there next week!
