This was a solo tour for Clare Bowditch, leaving her band, The Feeding Set, at home. Although touring with her as her support act was Tim Harvey (a member of The Feeding Set) and his band Hot Little Hands. And those little hands came in handy later in the show.
Bowditch started off the show singing an introduction of what was in store then rolled into her first song The Moon Looked On. Throughout the show Bowditch was having a great time and putting on a fun performance. She shared many funny stories while introducing her songs and got the crowd participating and singing along (very badly mind you). At one stage she announced “if you’ve come here seeking truth and wisdom…you’re at the wrong place”. She shared a story of a trip to Mexico where she longed to visit the ‘sacred site’ of the Corona beer factory, which was inspiration for the song Oranges.
As part of this tour Bowditch hosted a completion to give fans the opportunity to join her on stage to perform Your Other Hand. Entrants sent Clare a demo of their version of the song and a different winner was chosen to perform at each gig based on their ‘fun factor’. For this gig Bowditch was joined on stage by Cam on bass and Luke on keys. The boys measured up well, proving the success of the competition.
Bowditch was later joined on stage by Tim (Hot Little Hands) and they revved things up a notch with When Night Comes. Then pair were joined by the whole Hot Little Hands band, the magnificent Liz Stringer, Jess McAvoy and ith a few other special guests to perform Paul Kelly’s hit From Little Things Big Things Grow. What a treat! To finish off the night Bowditch sang Between The Tea and Toast playing part of the tune on a tea pot – yes, a tea pot!
This was Bowditch’s last tour before temporarily relocating to Berlin. So to get your dose you’ll have to get her CD – she’ll be sorely missed on Australian stages.
