The Ghost Inside @ Rosies,Brisbane (19/06/08)

Tonight’s show at Rosies featured some sterling international and interstate talent. Native lads The Broderick and Abandon All Hope started off the night with an impressive show of local hardcore and metal talent. A distinctively male-orientated crowd received Melbourne’s The Broderick well, with a bigger-than-usual crowd gathered before the start of their set. The Broderick delivered heart thumping basslines and strong vocals throughout their show. Catch them back in Queensland in July with Carpathian.

Following The Broderick was fellow Washed Up Records mates, Abandon All Hope, hailing from Adelaide. These boys genuinely looked like they were having the time of their lives on the stage, and whipped the crowd into frenzy within seconds. They served up all the best aspects of the hardcore genre: tight drums, fast, heavy riffs and of course, inspiring some rather drunk fans to partake in an impressive display of calisthenics. Even if hardcore is not your genre of choice, Abandon All Hope is definitely a band to watch out for.

The last band for the night, Los Angeles’ The Ghost Inside combined all the promise showed by the two preceding bands. The Ghost Inside put on a contagiously energetic show, with each band member flying all over the stage, barely remaining still long enough for the photographers trying to get a picture. Each song was a raw, emotional journey and by the end of the night I doubt there was a person in the room who hadn’t been caught up in the moment. With amazing audience interaction, including a song tribute to the barman, The Ghost Inside won over many more fans tonight. Hopefully they will be back in Australia with another amazing show soon.
