Mia Dyson, Jordie Lane, Vika and Linda Bull, Single Malt Special and Liz Stringer and Adam May join forces to raise money for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. All proceeds to benefit the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Human Rights Programs. All of these artists are passionate about this cause and donated their time for free.
Jordie Lane kicked off the show with his band, which included Liz Stringer on banjo and lap steel. Jordie is a great artist with a strong country-type voice and a unique style of guitar pickin’. Canadian Tracey McNeil joined them on stage for the last song.
Liz Stringer and Adam May took the stage next, joined by Jordie Lane for the first few songs. Liz is an absolutely amazing and talented songwriter and musician. Liz’s voice is deep and smooth, like a mixture of Baileys Irish Cream and chocolate. Liz preformed with such intensity, which commanded the attention of the room.
Mia Dyson and Matt Walker preformed as a seated duo, singing mainly Mia’s songs with a few of Matt’s also. It was great to see Mia performing a more intimate show on a slower scale, although I do prefer her full band sound.
Vika and Linda Bull entered the stage to thundering applause. This is last time Linda will be preforming for a while. She is hanging up her microphone so she can spend more time with her young family. Vika had lost her voice but still preformed on this important day, Linda carrying her through the notes that she was unable to reach. The girls finished with a song that Paul Kelly had written for Vika, and for Linda he had written a lovely humming part. By this time Vika had no voice at all, so they changed roles, Vika miming the words to Linda, who sang them perfectly. It was just so beautiful – one of those great moments in music never to be forgotten.
