With the warm summer nights a thing of the past, Thursday’s rain made it difficult to drag my ass to The Annandale. The turn out was decent as was the line up.

Call the Medic Call the Nurse are a punk, experimental dance outfit that acted as a catalyst to get the feet shuffling and the heads nodding as they played on the strength of their latest EP. The foursome are fresh faces on the local gig scene but are sure to make themselves heard via vocalists Simo’s passion laden screams and wails.

The excitement and energy were extended to The Thaw and Assassination Collective. The latter’s edgy number If Footy was Free appears to be their swan song and despite sounding a little chaotic it nevertheless sums up the grind of the local pub scene.

The main meal The Hard-Ons as per usual were raw and enthusiastic as ever about strutting their stuff. Despite 20 years + on the local scene and a good following overseas, the terrific trio is still pumping out new material such as A Brand Cigarette. The body of their songs were taken from Dickcheese, Most People are a Waste of Time and Most People are Nicer Than Us. The ethos may be tongue in cheek with silly titled songs such as You Sir Can Fuck Off and Bottom Feeders coupled with aptly titled albums, however as Blackie (vocalist) vehemently asserts, the band has fun but takes their music very seriously. That said, let’s rock!!!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first!
