Brandi Carlile @ The Zoo,Brisbane, 14/11/2007
Tue 20th Nov, 2007 in Gig Reviews
Seattle based Brandi Carlile has just finished her first Australian tour. She dropped in at the Zoo and treated fans to one hell of a show.
Carlile is probably best known for her song The Story, recently featured on hit show Grey’s Anatomy. Since this appearance Carlile has started making a name for herself outside of the States.
With a set list that covered most of her most recent album, The Story, Brandi treated the audience to a few covers. She lulled the crowd into a hushed silence with a heart felt rendition of Radiohead’s Creep. Two or three songs later and she had the crowd on their feet with a killer version of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues.
However her set was certainly more than just a cover show as Brandi treated her audience to gems from her album such as Wasted and Turpentine. She also used the gig as an opportunity to show off a few of her new songs including the gorgeous Lovesongs.
If you missed Brandi Carlile on her debut tour, you should be kicking yourself. At the very least keep an eye on her website as she will be announcing another Australian tour in April. In the meantime, treat yourself to a copy of her album The Story. You won’t regret it!
