Welcome to FasterLouder’s podcast session number eight proudly sponsored by the Sony Ericsson W880i Walkman phone. For this week’s podcast we’re getting down with some great local indie acts and international artists. We’ll be showcasing a new track from the King and Queens of DIY indie rock – The Waifs – the threesome will serve up a newbie taken from their upcoming fifth studio effort, Sun, Dirt Water. British India offer up their latest track Tie Up My Hands. Sydney hip hop outfit Blue Juice will serve up a sneaky peek from their soon to be released LP Problems. Omaha Nebraska’s fave indie outfit, Tilly and the Wall dish up their shiny new single, Bad Education. Plus we’ll introduce you to the nu wave rock sounds of WA outfit The Dirty Secrets. And feature artist, Liam Finn, of Betchdupa fame will drop by to give us the run down on his new solo album due to drop this August. So grab yourself a comfy chair, sit back and chill out for the next half hour or so as we bring you some great new music.

Feature Artist:

Liam Finn (Liberation)
Probably best known as a member NZ outfit Betchadupa (and a member of that family) Liam Finn has spent the last year or so noodling away in his bedroom, here, in NZ and in the UK, working on tracks for his solo album I’ll Be Lightning. Finn proves that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – delivering up a collection of quirky soft pop rock tracks that will easily be a soundtrack for the coming summer

Emerging Artist

The Dirty Secrets (unsigned)
This month’s emerging band is WA outfit – The Dirty Secrets. Since forming in 2004 the four piece have made quite a name for themselves for their dirty nu wave rock sound, endearing themselves to the punters on the local scene. With national support slots with pop rockers OK GO in the bag this band is about to be huge! Check out the track 5Ft of Snow – from their upcoming album Hands and Bones

Also on this podcast:

Blue Juice (indie)
Sydney locals Blue Juice have been playing around the traps for several years now – and anyone that has seen their live show can attest to the energy and talent of this band. In the past couple of years Blue Juice has had success with singles such as Unemployed and Get Me Down – but it’s new LP Problems that is going set tongues wagging… The first single Vitriol has already been added to Triple j…

British India (shiny/shock)
British India have been making quite a name for themselves of late with their punked up pop rock getting hips swaying all over the country. The band are heading off around the nation to celebrate the release of their debut album Guillotine which has already spawned the hit single T_ie Up My Hands_

The Waifs (indie)
Since arriving on the scene more than a decade ago The Waifs have won hearts and minds all over the globe thanks to their distinctive guitar driven melodies and quirky turn of phrase. But it’s not just the punter that adore them – with ARIA and Best Contemporary Folk Awards being just a couple of the gongs they’ve picked up along the way. The Waifs will drop their fifth studio album this September – but you can get a sneak peek of what’s on offer as we play you the title track, Sun, Dirt Water

Tilly and the Wall (dew process)
They must put something in the water in Omaha Nebraska – cause indie pop rockers Tilly and the Wall are such inventive musos. They say to get ahead in this biz you gotta have a gimmick – and Tilly and the Wall found theirs pretty early on, in the form of tap dancing band member Jamie Pressnal – but what could have been just plain silly has wound up as the band’s signature sound…
