This week we’ve turned our focus on Brisbane’s Pauhaus festival and put together a podcast crammed with some of the great indie acts on the line–up—which adds up to a tasty half hour of listening goodness for you. We’ll be serving up a track as bright as a shiny penny from Melbournes’ Whitley, mixing things up with Macromantics and serving you up the latest from the Red Riders. Feature artists The Panics drop by for a chat and Brissie band Violent Soho crank up the rock to 11. Plus we’ve got the newbie from Boundary Sounds latest signing Wons Phreely and Dave McCormack puts his spin on Don’t Want to be Let Down…awww…

The Panics (little big man)
Formed way back in 2000 by friends Jae Laffer and Drew Whooton, The Panics have been an integral part of the Australian music scene for years. They’ve played support act to a number of world renowned artists including the likes of Morrisey, Gomez and Badly Drawn Boy; received plenty of critical acclaim for their last release, Sleeps Like a Curse and with a new album in the wings, these former Perth boys finally look poised for international success.

Violent Soho (unsigned)
Another Brissie band that’s strong on the DIY ethics is Violent Soho, since forming in 2005 the band have established a reputation for blistering live shows that have made them a favourite with the Brissie rock contingent. During the latter part of 2006 the band recorded an EP Pigs & TV, which is getting plenty of airplay on 4zzz, so it’s only a matter of time before it goes national – listen out for this single Generation

Red Riders (Ivy League)
Sydney locals Red Riders have come a long way since they first formed around four years ago. Inspired by a shared love for guitar driven rock and kooky beats, Red Riders deliver jangling rhythms over crunching noise that appeals to a vast audience. In their day, the band have shared a stage with The Shins, Fiery Furnaces and Franz Ferdinand. Their latest album Replica Replica has already served up a hit with My Love is Stronger than Your Love – now prepare yourself for the new single In My Sleep.

Wons Phreely (Boundary Sounds)
Since signing to Boundary Sounds, Wons Phreely has been a busy chappie hitting the recording studio to record the tracks for his first official release. The album, titled The Rules of Nature drops in stores on June 23 – but you can get a sneaky peek of the first single – the title track – a cheeky new pholk ballad that will get your toes tapping.

Macromantics (remote control)
Romy Hoffman aka Macromantics has been doing the MC thing for several years now and is a popular fixture in the local circuit. Recent tours to the US have cemented her performances skills and raised her profile on the international scene, with Macromantics returning home fighting fit and ready to lay down some new tracks. In the meantime you can get your fill of her skillz by checking out Apple Crumble.

Dave McCormack
McCormack has been making rock for as long as some of you have been alive – from kooky nineties act Custard to The Titanics to recent outfit Dave McCormack and The Polaroids. His quirky sense of musicality and turn of phrase has delivered some killer tracks in his time. Most recently McCormack was at the helm of the Go Between tribute project, Write Your Adventures Down
