Feature Artist
SHY CHILD
Pete Caferella and Nate Smith better known as NYC duo Shy Child have been making sweet sweet music together since they met up back in 2000. But it wasn’t til 2002 that they released their first effort as the Shy Child incarnation. The album Please Consider Our Time brought them to the attention of all the hip indie club kids and sophomore effort, One With the Sun cemented their reputation. But it wasn’t until 2006 when Shy Child hit the UK festival circuit that they really started to get global acclaim. Shows with Hot Chip and the Klaxons earned them instant indie cred and the rest, as they say is history…
Emerging Artist
OohLaLa
This week’s emerging artist is Sydney four piece Oohlala. If you like your rock wrapped up with a bit of a soul injection then Oohlala is the band for you. The track I’m going to play for you today is a brand spanking newbie recorded in the boys kitchen… it’s called _Get on Your Knees and Pray_…
PARIS WELLS
Settle back and get yourself grooving with a track from Justin Timberlake’s favourite Aussie artist, Paris Wells. Now JT got hold of Wells’ tracks and liked what he heard so much that he invited Paris on his Australian and New Zealand tour. If you’re a Melbourne listener and you’re into that cool indie scene you’re probably already familiar with this gal, but for the rest of you, make welcome Paris Wells with the track Grace Baby
The E.L.F
If you’re a fan of gerling no doubt you will already have heard about The E.L.F – gerling whiz kid Darren Cross’s side project. Born from depths of his bedroom, The E.L.F project sees Cross offer up a mash up of abstract dance sounds with an indie ethos straight from his laptop and sampler. His debut ep is set for release in February 2008, in the meantime wrap your ears around Cockroaches
CITY LIGHTS
The City Lights have delivered a corker of a single with this next track Get Steady. Taken from their album El Sol, and no they aren’t being pretentious the album was inspired by their earlier tour of Spain… Settle back for some stonking indie rock…
GameboyGameGirl
Melbourne hip hop electronica outfit Gameboy Gamegirl will be making a rare Sydney appearance this weekend at the Oxford art factory – to get you in the mood we’ve got our hands on their latest track. Wrap your ears around Sweaty Wet Dirty Damp
